True or False

When we educate people about lightning and lightning protection we have found that there are a number of widely held wives-tales and myths about lightning and lightning rods that need to be corrected in order for people to come to understand how a lightning protection system functions. Lightning protection was invented, as you may know, by Ben Franklin in the 1750’s. Thus as a concept lightning protection dates back 250 plus years. That’s 250 years to develop and improve the system along with 250 years to perpetuate a number of misconceptions. Even many school textbooks incorrectly explain lightning protection.
